Decent Work in Global Supply Chains

I am following this course to upgrade my overall understanding and knowledge of the key issues regarding this complex topic. I was surprised to discover that the emergence of global supply chains dates as far back as the 1960s. From the perspective of the MNCs I wonder to what extent the shift to democratic rule in many source countries also paved the way for the shift of production facilities from North to South ?
