Yesterday I listened to Uli Siggs lecture in Centre Pompidou, and I was impressed by his deep knowledge of Chinese art and culture. Last year, I also was a resident artist in China, and could see that the art world is very dynamic there, but that well known Chinese artists in China are not necessarily the same as well known Chinese artists in the west. I would like to understand better this paradox. I am also wondering how art is used in Beijing's soft power strategy.

The point of perspective, whether you are in the West or in China, on an artist's recognition can be indeed a very different one.
I am intersted in your research about this paradox and looking forward to your findings.
