Architectural Culture and Britain,

1 commentaire

It would appear, that through the architecture of Stonehenge,(as primitive as it is), British architects such as Inigo Jones and Christopher Wren found inspiration for some of there more inspired buildings. Throughout history many, especially the religious buildings such as Cathedrals and Churches have been built with natural, mainly local to their area materials. The size of Stonehenge, its visibility and its very construction has caused many people to aspire to a culture of Architecture that shows what man can do, however large a building, or difficult the materials are to transport and work.
