Michael (Mike) Seeger

BSc Eng Mining, MSc Eng (Mineral Economics), PhD

A qualified Mining Engineer with +25 years’ experience in mining finance, mine development and mining operations in gold, precious metals, base metals, energy minerals and industrial minerals.

He started his career working in deep level gold mining in South Africa. Later he gained experience working as a mining engineer in mine production and mine development for Iscor Mining. He was a member of the project team that developed the titanium mining and smelting operations now owned by Tronox.

From 2001 - 2003 he worked as a management consultant on the turnaround and optimization of multiple gold mines mines and smelters in South Africa, West Africa, South America and Europe. Mining companies included Newmont, AngloGold Ashanti, Kaiser Aluminium, Outokumpu and RAG Coal.

In 2004 he co-founded a large opencast mining contracting company that mined for Anglo American. In 2009 he was a co-founder of ASX listed Universal Coal that financed and developed a portfolio of coal mines and projects.

As founder and director of MX Mining Capital Advisors, he advises mine developers, mine owners and mining investors on financing of mining projects. His work includes arranging finance for mines and mining projects across the globe in gold, base metals, precious metals, energy minerals and industrial minerals, working with diverse types of mining capital. He is passionate about sustainable mining.

In 2019 he published the handbook “Mining Capital” with Springer for mine developers and mine owners seeking finance.
