What is the course about?

This is the platform for our GLU Tutoring Programme "Localizing the MOOC"! This is a pilot programme which aims at linking our MOOC "Workers' Rights in the Global Economy" with the local level. While we have tried to bring together global expertise in developing this course, you are the experts of your local contexts and you know best how it can be anchored in your country. We look forward to working with you to reach and connect as many people as possible with the MOOC 2016!

What will I learn?

At the end of the course you will be able to carry out local activities to anchor the MOOC Workers' Rights in a Global Economy in your country and in particular in your city. If possible, this can lead to further follow-up activities. You will be part of a vibrant community of GLU tutors engaged in spreading the MOOC locally and globally.

Course Structure

Chapter 1: Welcome to the GLU Tutoring Programme
This chapter aims at getting to know each other. We will do this with the help of the new journal function which you will find on the tab bar in the course. Please upload a picture of yourself on your profile page and make a new entry in your journal telling us about your background, your work and your main areas of interest (e.g. organizing in the informal economy, social protection etc.).

Chapter 2: Promoting the MOOC in your local context
In this chapter we would like to facilitate peer-to-peer learning on how you can best promote the MOOC in your country and in your local networks. Please post your concept for local promotion in the discussion exercise, and if you have any questions regarding the MOOC promotion please post them as "Related questions".

Chapter 3: Localizing the MOOC through local workshops
Local workshops are at the heart of this tutoring programme. They are crucial for "localizing" the MOOC as they add the face-to-face component to the online learning experience. With the help of a peer review system, we would like to benefit of crowd intelligence to make the local workshops as successful as possible.

Chapter 4: Lessons learned and follow-up activities
In this chapter we would like to collect insights on what you have learned from your experience with promoting the MOOC locally and organizing a local workshop. Also we would like to invite you to share Please share your ideas for local follow-up activities. This can include ideas you have discussed at the workshop or other follow-up activities which you may want to propose in the future.
