Geoffrey of Monmouth's influence

0

Although the work of Geoffrey of Monmouth around Stonehenge is fictional (meaning some may see it as being misleading and inaccurate), it should still bee considered as being valuable evidence around the questions of Stonehenge and attitudes towards it through time. I do not believe Stonehenge archaeologists are working in the shadow of Geoffrey Monmouth as they have been able to prove some of the accusations wrong. For example, Geoffrey suggests the stones of Stonehenge come from Ireland, but archaeologists know that they come from the south of Wales and Marlborough Downs. If anything, I believe the work of both Geoffrey of Monmouth and Stonehenge archaeologists compliment each other as they are all raising awareness of the questions of Stonehenge and allowing people to develop a personal opinion and interest on the matter.
