Unaccompanied children, a shame on the civilised world

The migration issue is even more thorny when children are the main subjects. Harsh economic condition in the country of origin, abuses in the family or even falling in the net of human traffickers are some of the reasons why children try to enter alone in another country.

Unaccompanied children are supposed to be protected by a peculiar legislation but often their are sent back in their countries. Even tough the last statistics state that the number of those repatriated are less than some years ago. Anyway, once entered the new country they are often likely to be mistreated and abused again, even form the officers at the borders.

Adding patrol controllers at the borders, restricting the regulations on the immigration and the number of people allowed to enter and to remain in the US, will not solve the problem.

To solve these problem governments should intervene at tha roots, improving the welfare, labor policy and social aid.

Of course this is not easy at all. Anyway, the more restrictions Government will decide the more borders will be closed the more people, including children, will find a way out.
