Getting Global

0

It´s known that there´s no business at all if it´s not on a global level. That´s why being only local isn´t enough. Entrepreneurship is a crucial and essential engine for the economy, specially for our rural regions at the circumstances where it´s impossible to speak on the regional policy in Estonia, it´s just lacking. For to run business and create the environment for the economy to make the economy possible at all, it´s needed to move onto the international level, not to stay just local. From that point of view I found from the good practice database one of the excellent example like The Esprint Plan, which is aimed to connect Catalan start-ups to the world by preparing them for their international growth. Estonia is in need to increase export, but it cannot be done without creating the international channels for that. Instead of like Estonia, which is actually creating the start-up community basicly only on a local level, the Catalans are creating both local and international. Which makes a sense. That is why The Esprint Plan, which is a model replicable to other geographical areas, can be as well an inspiring iniative and solution for other regions and the lessons learned can be shared with other companies that want to internationalize themselves. As an example it´s relevant for our region as well as a good inspiring resolution, which according to the expert is for the service provided to support internationalisation of business start-up comprehensive from operational aspects (business trips) to more strategic advice. The relevance of this approach is reflected in the clear evidence. https://www.interregeurope.eu/policylearning/good-practices/item/6/esprint-plan-from-the-start-up-catalonia-program/
For comparison: there are 0,4-0.55 start-ups per 1000 inhabitants in Estonia. Totally estimated 450 start-ups ought to be doubled by 2020. Start-ups in Estonia have created 2300 jobs, it´s ca 200 jobs a year. In 2015 they paid taxes 22 Mln Euros. The relevant information on our start-ups is provided here: http://www.startupestonia.ee/
On that point nothing to compare here to the Catalans:

Participating companies jobs generated Increase in turnover Capital increase:
2015 20 45 22 M € 18%
2016 17 64 8,7 M € 66%
Additionally Startup Estonia is a governmental initiative aimed to superchange the local startup ecosystem in order to see many more startups success stories to come from Estonia. Startup Estonia is financed from the European Regional Development Fund with 7 Mln Euros. As far as we know now our biggest start-up is about to come out of the forest.
