Stonehenge is obviously an immensely important site but I feel it is just part of a huge and complex landscape that we will never fully understand.
The reason Stonehenge is so important today is the fact it has stood the test of time and is still prominent on the landscape of the area but I feel during the periods it was built it just made up part of the story.
To begin to understand what we know of Stonehenge we need to unwrap the mysteries of all the sites in this area and then attempt to fit the pieces together.
Only then will we be able to understand the full meaning of this special place.
I agree. I wonder if people will still be pondering the mysteries of Stonehenge and the surrounding region when our own time is as distant from them as Stonehenge's completion is from us (circa 6000 A.D. or so, I figure).
You think Homo Sapiens will still be here at that time?
