Costs of having migrants in your country

0

While sceptics of migration prefer to believe that migrants entering into the host country bring down wages as they compete for jobs in the labour market, the argument is rather short sighted. It has been shown that migrants also 'deliver' the native population from low paying, manual jobs and do not have a considerable effect on wages (less than 2%)

Further the native population, freed off the menial jobs can be employed at better jobs with better pay. Further it has been shown that the burden of an immigrant is over stated as they will ultimately contribute to the GDP of the host country. Thus there are not only costs but also returns in assimilation of migrants.
