Stonehenge and the landscape

0

It's useful to think of Stonehenge as the stones and adjacent landscapes, in view of recent archaeological discoveries which surround the stones and help contextualise the stones themselves. We know the stones were placed there by man from the numerous human and animal remains discovered at the henge and nearby settlements. Each nearby discovery reveals greater evidence to provide context to the stones, extending the site of Stonehenge into the surrounding landscape, linking it more closely to the Amesbury geography.
