Stonehenge
Clearly Stonehenge should be viewed within the wider landscape. The sheer number of significant sites in and around Stonehenge is testament to this. Stonehenge should not be viewed in isolation. However, I do begin to struggle with my understanding when I hear words such as ritual, ceremony, or spiritual. Perhaps it is the cynic in me but I'd prefer to arrive at those conclusions based upon more evidence. I am of course ignorant to much of the evidence, thus my own research and studying will continue.
Hi Peter, I'm the same when it comes to guessing the intent of the builders. I think we are all too easily lured into transferring our current knowledge and outlooks onto peoples of the past.
