`Start by reading this article and discuss in your journal how current official definitions of "migrants", "refugees" and "asylum seekers" are challenged by the on-going migration crisis at the South-East borders of Europe.

International protection access, a technical matter

The main reason why people are forced to leave their country without getting access to the refugees status is a matter of technical definition. Someone who leaves his homeland for persecution, war or any other natural or man-made disaster, is not sure to be accepted as an asylum seeker in the country he reached and could possibly be rejected and deported.
