Reflect Your Story, Part II! ☝

Reflect Your Story, Part 2!

1

Successes:
- Digital learning is available to anyone, anywhere, and at any time.
- Digital learning can save lots of money compared to in-person training. First of all, there are no travel costs. Additionally, once the content is designed, it can be used over and over again by many people.
- I've designed e-learning games in Lectora and Articulate. Students have told me that the games have helped them be better prepared for the exam.
- Changes to digital learning curriculum can be made quickly. If I find an error in my course content, I can update it instantly and push the change in my LMS. There's no need to revise books and mail them out like in traditional classes. Digital learning is agile.

Challenges:
- Students don't participate regularly.
- Students don't keep pace with the course.
- Designing e-learning can be expensive and time-consuming.
- Some game templates can be a bit boring and basic for students.
- There can be a disconnect between the digital learning and what the student needs to learn.
- There are so many types of Learning Management Systems, authoring software, and learning theories available that designing the right kind of learning for the student is a big challenge.

Learnings:
- Podcasts should be kept to 6 minutes so that students don't get bored or distracted.
- Adaptive learning is personalized by diagnostics and predictive analytics and takes into account what the learner already knows/ has done.

Recommendations:
- Use as many forms of learning as possible (reading, podcasts, video, games, etc.). Every learner is different and can pick from the available materials in a customized way.
- Mobile learning and learning apps should be utilized.

Conclusion:
- Digital learning offers infinite solutions. So many technologies and theories are developing at this moment. The field is in continual evolution. The right solution can be chosen depending on the content and the learner, but it will vary for each kind of situation.
- I recommend that participants take their time with this course. There is a lot of content available, especially in the supplementary resource section. You can invest as much time as you want going through the information. It's a lot of food for thought. The projects took more time for me to think about than actually carrying them out.
- It was challenging for me to make the imaginary magazine cover about the future of digital learning. At first, I had no ideas. It ended up giving me many ideas. I didn't watch any of the videos about the future of digital learning until after I made this project because I didn't want it to influence what I came up with.
- I would like to try mLearning and learning apps in my organization. I'm early in looking at this, so it's too soon to share a success story. I hope to come back and add that in the future!
