Why Stonehenge was built anyway?

It is very important to understand why is UNESCO's full name of the site "Stonehenge, Avebury and Associated Sites" - because the most important step in interpretation of every archaeological finding is context. Besides, we should understand that Stonehenge is part of wider phenomenon not only of Amesbury county, or southern Britain, but of the much wider area. Megalithic cultures are formed in specific period of European prehistory: in time when people become more sedentarian so bigger effort could be invested in building of huge structures. Hunter-gethers were more aware of moving through landscape, but first farmers started to control nature and to better understand it's processes. That resulted in increasing social complexity.
