Love to read his stories however fanciful they are. I am sure all current archaeologist are aware of his work. Myths and legends are often helpful in tell us how people thought about ancient times , before the scientist brought us facts rather than stories. The only shadow G of M leaves for me is an insight of 12th C thinking of their past.
