Considering Stonehenge is so well known, and embedded in the British psyche, it's surprising that it doesn't play a bigger part in British cultural heritage. Maybe 2,000-odd years of Christianity have downplayed it. It's more a case that our interpretation of Stonehenge has been influenced by our culture, than the other way around.
