Climate Change and Health

As a health professional and public health researcher, Climate Change is a field of study to me, an area of practice, research, education, and policy. It's the biggest health threat and opportunity of our time and so it is my primary area of research interest.

As a humanitarian, climate change is an equity issue. The differences between the Global North and South are unjust enough without adding the impact of climate change.

I'd like to see climate change research operationalized so that individuals, communities, organizations and sectors actively engage in adaptation and mitigation effectively.

The definition of sustainability is to meet our needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. This idea is something that ethically cannot be argued against, however Climate Change represents the opposite to this philosophy.

As a parent, climate change also creates a lot of emotional distress, but I try to channel that energy into activity to address the issue in my small, 1 person, 1 lifetime way. At least when my time is up I can say to myself that I did all I could.
