Nicole the Urban Environmental Educator

Educating myself more about the links between climate change and health is important to me because I am getting my Master's in Urban Environmental Education. Surprisingly, my program has not focused at all on climate change. However, I did study it quite a bit in my undergrad, Environmental Policy, and am taking this as a refresher course as well as a way to see if anything has changed in the way we approach the issue in the past 5 years.

For me, climate change refers not only to the change in temperature, sea level rise, and extreme weather events the world is facing, but also the policy change that must come about as a result of our irresponsible actions. At first, we as the human race may have been ignorant about what over-development of rain forests, C02 emissions, and even eating too much meat was doing to the environment, but now there is so much research and evidence out there of the destructiveness of these processes, there is no excuse for continuing along this path.

If I am going to be working with communities that are impacted by climate change, I would like to have the background knowledge to be able to talk about it.
