I signed up for this class as a general interest in Chinese culture and art as a human expression of life. Globalization, even though I live in the most isolated land mass in the world, Hawaii, still effects commerce and life style. If one lived in acient Hawaii, they would speak Hawaiian and live mostly from the land and rule of a king. Instead we live in a modern Hawaii where we are influcened by world trade and western culture.
My great Grandparents were native American indians. My maternal great grandparents were from Europe. This diversity and cultural amnesia creates a mask of discovery while living in polynesia.
Dear Melinda, greetings to Hawaii! By the way, Polynesia, despite its remoteness, is believed of having been very active in exchange across the ocean in pre-historic times. Michael
