Stonehenge

Archaeologists have always been in the shadow of story tellers, reality is never quite as exciting as myths and fairy tales. The ideas of aliens coming down and leaving their technologies with us is far more exciting than the reality that we just progressed, slowly and steadily; mostly as a result of simple evolutionary changes. In respects to Geoffrey of Monmouth, I feel that archaeologists will always be stuck in his shadows along with the many other fanciful tales, tributes and legends that surround the monument. While for those who are interested, it is easy to find the grandeur in both not fully understanding this monument and the reality that what we do understand usually turns out to be a lot less mysterious than hoped for, but exhilarating non the less.
