Create your communicative profile!

Go to the 'additional materials' of this unit and take the suggested test.

You can choose between recording a video and writing text; but please remember to share the result in the learning journal!

Quick hint: think about the characteristics we talked about in the communicative styles unit (ie: how efficient types are decisive and need information in a precise way).

When looking at the test results, think about if they apply to you. And how so?! Make sure you use personal examples to illustrate your opinions to the rest of the community. This exercise is made to help you reflect how you communicate with others: being aware of your own communicative style will help you improve your communication in all contexts, with any audience.

Hi everyone,

According to the test, I am more of a visual kind of person when it comes to my communication style. To be honest, that's not very surprising, i've always had a tendency to picture myself do something (in fact, while i'm writing, i'm saying some words in my head to imagine how it sounds, and if it doesn't sound good, i just rephrase) beforei actually do it.

In team projects, i always have a big picture of what i need to do and try to follow my creativitiy more than step by step instructions. And when i communicate, i often have a pen and a paper with me to draw schemes and diagrams. This has 2 sides: first, people seem to enjoy see me take a pen and paper and start picturing the idea, however, i think most of the time, they cannot relate to it. It's either they have a different communicative style, or I'm not good at explaining... or just didn't adapt to their style and prefered mine.
That's what i'm here for, learning to make the audience more focused by adapting my discourse to their styles and not only mine.
