Climate change to me...from south of Chile.

To me, and to the indigenous people who lives in areas nerby..climate change means there is no water for the daily live activities and with no water there is no culture. CC has created a sort of snow ball effect being children and women the most affected by the extreme events. Why?

There is a huge inter-region migration. Men are traveling to other cities looking for a job because agriculture is no longer a suitable activity and the wheat price is very low. Those people suffer of the dislocation effects and just a few of them return home. Because of the homebreaking. many of the people are suffering of STD, particularly AIDS being this a new issue for indigenous culture in Chile, because there is no study on how affects AIDS to the Mapuche.

All of this means, women are alone in the countryside taking care of children, greenhouses and animals like cows, pigs and chicken while their husbands are in other cities working in minor jobs like seasonal and construction worker earning the lowest wage 357 dollars a month.

In other way culture is affected by climate change is because children have to move out of home, because their mothers cannot generate income, just a little money coming from selling goods at fairs (They are creating and selling textile as a way to help their kids). So, children usually lives in school since March to December meaning that all the process of tresspasing ancient knowledge and traditions from mothers to sons and daughters are lost.

Climate change means a lot to us, but people only see the effects in long terms, 50 to 100 years and they are not paying attention in how this affects to people right now.
