Dr Beatrice Ivey

Beatrice is a Postdoctoral Research Assistant for the ‘Narratives and Representation of the French Settlers of Algeria’ project at the University of Stirling. She completed her PhD at the University of Leeds in 2018, examining the gender performativity of cultural memory in writings by Assia Djebar, Hélène Cixous, Ahmed Kalouaz, Malika Mokeddem, and Nina Bouraoui. Her book ‘Performative Pasts: Gender and Transnational Memory in French and Algerian Literature, Film, and Theatre’ will appear with Liverpool University Press. She has published on French literature, feminism, and the memory of colonialism.
