Chapter 5

The 21st century is continuing the story of Stonehenge by making efforts to re-interpret the site, with the new visitor centre and access routes, by continuing to research and excavate the area around it in order to gain more information, and by continuing to visit and celebrate the stones themselves.

Although it would be fascinating to discover exactly why the stones were built and how they were used, in a way it doesn't matter to the 21st century story. The fact that people still continue to incorporate Stonehenge into their worldview and rituals keeps the story alive. History is full of people re-appropriating ancient monuments and structures for their own use and there is no reason why this shouldn't continue today.
