iversity.org is an online platform for Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). iversity enables universities and professors to provide online courses to thousands of students from all over the world.
However, we do not want to stop there. We want to move beyond the mere provision of course material and offer students the opportunity to get feedback on their work and a proper grade.
Therefore, we are currently recruiting Cloud Teaching Assistants (CTA's) – a decentralised group of graduates from a variety of fields that review the work submitted by the students in our open online courses.
We are looking for graduates in the fields of Philosophy as well as Political Science or Political Philosophy.
CTA's will be asked to evaluate and grade written assignments from the online course “Political Philosophy: An Introduction” taught by Prof. Furio Cerutti (Universitá degli Studi di Firenze and now adjunct professor at the Scuola Superiore Sant’ Anna in Pisa). The assignment consists of an essay (3-7 pages) and we will provide you with detailed evaluation guidelines. The remuneration is set at 15 euros per essay. Additionally we will provide you with a statement, showing your involvement in this project.
The whole project will run in February. The essays will be distributed to the CTA's on February 9. Grades will need to be submitted by February 18. The number of essays per CTA will dependent on the number of participating students as well as the number of CTA's. We will provide you with more detailed information as it becomes available, but you will not be assigned more essays than can reasonably corrected by any one individual. Application deadline is on January 5.
- Native English speaker or a valid TOEFL or Cambridge certificate.
- Master’s, preferably a master’s degree in the fields of Philosophy or Politic Science.
- Graduated in the online course “Political Philosophy: An Introduction” (completion: 100 percent).
- Teaching, tutoring and grading experience will be considered an asset.
To apply, please take the following steps:
We reserve the right to request appropriate documentation for the entries on your CV at any point (transcripts, degree certificates etc.). Failure to provide such documentation within two weeks of the request will disqualify you as a CTA and we will not be able to compensate you for your work.
We are looking forward to having you on board for this project. With your help we will truly be breaking new ground, opening up a new chapter in the history of online education.
