Unaccompanied migrant minors: refugees or economic migrants?

There is no doubt that unaccompanied migrant minors constitute a major humanitarian issue. Whether they are refugees or economic migrants is a question that should be relegated to a lower priority, because, regardless of their classification, they are in desperate need to be rejoined with their families. In essence, an unaccompanied migrant child is facing the same risks, albeit to a greater scale, that a refugee faces.
