For a monument that has largely been misunderstood under fairly recently, why does our own reflection on the meaning of Stonehenge matter? That makes us no better than the neo-druids who reckon they're continuing the past, but are kinda guessing a lot. Why does 'our story' need to be seen in some continuation with the past?
We are no better, in the sense that subjectivity is our ongoing limitation. However, the knowledge that we will never attain perfect objective understanding should not be used to inhibit curiosity, our ongoing redeeming feature.
