Stonehenge

It looks as though humanity became more competitive and violent with the advent of the bronze age, and the whole concept of value became monetized and weaponized. It's tempting to romanticize our paleo- to neolithic forebears, and I want to avoid that, but they seem to have seen their own utility and ambition in a more cooperative and spiritual light than many have since. With hard work, luck and maybe God's good grace, places like Stonehenge may become focal points for the emergence of a stewardship ethos that informs our culture more widely than just in museums. As Leonard Cohen sang, 'we are so small between the stars, so large against the sky...'.
