Having learnt about the journey of development and growth that the CCAA has been through in its short lifetime so far, it is undeniable that it has a long future ahead of it.
The fact that the traditional dominance of the West within the art world is being threatened by the growth of China and its contemporary art scene shines an interesting light on the CCAA's future. As Chinese contemporary art breaks into the Western art market, often reaching the highest prices, will this determine a new future in which Chinese art dictates the trends, and in turn giving the CCAA the ability to wield huge power in its nominations and award winners.
Furthermore, the CCAA's link to the M+ Museum is bound to bring huge developments for the award as the museum grows until its opening in 2019. This permanent display of Chinese contemporary not only creates a home for the art but also represents its steadfastness in the art world and its continued international growth as an important factor within world culture. The CCAA's connection to such an institution can only heighten the awards prominence and possibly aid in realigning the CCAA to focus once again for the search for the 'Unknown Artist' as the M+ will take the place of recognising and treasuring already established national and international icons of contemporary art.
